Your Visit

Take a trip to the arctic fishing grounds without leaving the quayside!

Fishermen from Fleetwood sailed to Iceland, Norway and Greenland in ships like Jacinta.

  • Discover what life at sea was like, working 18 hours a day in all weathers on the fishing grounds.
  • Learn how they used nets to catch the fish, how they processed them in the factory deck and stowed them in the ice-filled hold.
  • See the wheelhouse which was the control centre of Jacinta, visit the cabins where the 16 crewmen lived and the galley where the cook made their food - yes, they ate a lot of fish!
  • Browse in the museum area filled with ship models, photographs and memorabilia.

The Jacinta could catch enough fish in 10 days to make 3.5 million fish fingers!
